Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
Funding now accessible from the Government's Home Insulation Scheme.
I am pleased to be able to say that funding is now accessible from the Government's Home Insulation Scheme. This was originally going to be called Eco Plus, but has undergone a few changes since original inception: The original idea was to have a simple grant scheme for everyday, ordinary working folk that would run alongside the ECO4 scheme (primarily designed for benefit recipients) and to be a single-measure scheme for loft or cavity wall insulation. The scheme is now live and is “Early Delivery” from a main utility company with the main scheme starting in the summer. It is up and running but not particularly straightforward!
Qualifications
Firstly, the property must be in council tax bands A – D and have a RdSAP rating of D – G (EPC)
There is no requirement to be in receipt of a benefit.
The amount of grant depends on the size of the property and the EPC band, with larger properties and low EPC’s generating a significant contribution. All work is following the government PAS2035 regulations and a full Retrofit Survey must be completed to include full ventilation survey. Should the property require any ventilation upgrades, these must be done at the time of the installation. Ventilation upgrades can include: trickle vent installation, undercut improvement, and the fitting of mechanical extractors in wetrooms (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) where required. This not generally a fully-funded scheme and customer contributions will mainly depend on ratings and size. The bigger floor area with the lower RdSAP, then the less contribution.
Should a client be in receipt of a qualifying benefit then there may also be an option for heating control upgrades To find out more then please get in touch to book a survey.
